"What’s better than one shot of espresso? Two shots of espresso! Double Shot uses a blend of our very favorite beans to produce a beer that is both bold and luscious.  We experience flavors and aromas of chocolate covered espresso beans, molasses, milk chocolate, and touches of brown sugar.  A pungent & decadent treat, indeed! A rich, sweet, and less roasty base beer contributes the ideal backdrop to this bold and vibrant treat for the coffee and beer lover alike...  A true delight!"

Pitch black on the pour with a hefty two fingers of almond-colored head.

Cocoa powder dusted over coffee beans on the aroma with some wood and cream.

Mentioning that there is a coffee flavor in this beer would just be a painfully obvious statement, so we can just skip that right now. However, the coffee is so rich and sweet that it is dessert-like rather than something you're used to drinking in the morning. I'm definitely picking up a black licorice or anise which has a sticky component to it. A fluffy milk chocolate kick is on the finish with hints of the aforementioned cream from the aroma. I swear there's a hint of cinnamon in this too which really rounds out the complexity.

Mouthfeel feels thicker than 7.6%, but not quite like an Imperial Stout. That's fine in this case because it's a standard stout, but it still feels bigger than the listed abv. All of the confectionery flavors aren't too cloying and the body is thick enough to coat your entire mouth.

The world is full of coffee beers, but Tree House has made great one. More complex than your run-of-the-mill coffee stout, Double Shot offers you more than just coffee as it hits you with enough decadent flavors to make it an ideal dessert beer. I can't find any photos to confirm this, but apparently Tree House recently bottled Double shot. I have no idea if bottling their beers is going to be a regular thing, but if it's true, then I'm sure people are going apeshit trying to get a bottle of this beer. Well, regardless of what packaging it comes in, Double Shot is a superb coffee stout.
