"Bright was brewed to be a clean and elegant showcase for one of our favorite hops - Mosaic! It is crafted with a simple malt bill and fermented with clean American Ale yeast to create a flavor profile that is more a function of its vibrant fresh ingredients than an expression of yeast character. Bright’s aroma is a cornucopia of citrus dank… The taste follows suit with notes of grapefruit, sweet berries, and clementine with a gentle orange rind finish. She is dry, soft, and adequately bittered resulting in a very approachable yet pungent Double IPA. We hope you find this bit of a departure as enjoyable as we do!"

Pours a hazy dark orange. Body is a little clearer than other Tree House IPA's. The pour generated two fingers of fluffy, white head.

Spicy black pepper and cedar consume my nose on the aroma. It's earthy with bits of pine and hints of weed-like dankness.

It's nice to see some existence of fruit juices on the taste since they were virtually nowhere to be found on the aroma. The underlying flavor is an orange or clementine, but this isn't a typical Tree House juice nuke. Immediately after the juices are the familiar black pepper and spices from the aroma, but they go down easy and are quite smooth. It might be odd to say I'm picking up some pine needles covered in citrus zest, but there is a combination of the two that I simply can't shake. It finishes with almost a doughy yeast flavor, but a big enough splash of citrus moves it along.

Mouthfeel is full-bodied with no alcohol presence. While not a familiar creamy feel associated with Tree House, it still feels like a DIPA should. It barely even qualifies as a DIPA at 7.8%, but it still carries the same weight of other examples of the style.

Bright is a departure from the juice-forward IPA's being offered by Tree House, but it still succeeds as a good use of Mosaic hops. With nice dankness, plenty of spices, and enough citrus to pull it all together, Bright is a different IPA from a world class brewery that is worth a look.
